We all know this time of year is full of celebrations, indulgences and endless Christmas treats… and finding healthy options amongst this can be a challenge!

We’ve tried and tested a number of Christmas Treats from popular healthy eating books and put together this list of our top 5 Healthy Christmas Treats that will blow your guests socks off –  they won’t even realise how healthy they are! We know you have a million-and-one things to do before Christmas, so these recipes all take less than 15 minutes to prepare! So now there’s no excuse to make some healthy treats in between all your present wrapping, carol singing and christmas-jumper-wearing…

1. Deliciously Ella’s Raw Cacao & Walnut Truffle Bites

Christmas just isn’t complete without over indulging on chocolate, and what better way to so with these healthy yet decadent nutty truffles. Described as a ‘Gastronomic Delight!’ these truffles have a unbelievably rich cacao flavour and subtle hint of cinnamon, making them the perfect healthy Christmas treat. They’re gooey texture is filled with chunky walnuts and hazelnuts. Plus, they’re super simple to make, just whizz the ingredients in a blender and roll into balls – just be prepared to get messy hands! The truffles have a slightly sticky texture so we recommend dusting them with cacao powder to make them easier to handle.

2. Livia’s Kitchen Christmas Cranberry and Pecan Raw Chocolate Brownies

Just like Livia says on her blog ‘It’s not really Christmas unless there is something chocolatey around!’ … and we couldn’t agree more! These are a perfect healthy alternative the sugary treats that tempt us during the festive season and we can guarantee that these taste 100% as good – in fact, better! These Healthy Christmas treats deliver the most fabulously creamy texture  – in the form of the cashew frosting. We loved the occasional crunch of the nuts and tang of a cranberry that flavours these fudgy, chocolatey brownies. These are ridiculously quick and simple to make. With a prep time of 15 mins you’ll be sat in front of the TV watching a Christmas movie before you know it! (we recommend Elf – pretty sure buddy would enjoy gobbling down a few of these with Santa too!)

Servings: 15 Bigger Brownies – ( cut in half for snack size)

3. Madeleine Shaw’s Healthy Christmas Rocky Road

So we’re sure that you have figured out that these festive recipes are all full of chocolatey goodness and these healthy Christmas Rocky Roads have just that too! The main ingredient is Raw Cacao, which is a great Antioxidant and just what our bodies need around this Christmas period. These are a great alternative to a standard rocky road and we guarantee that you’re guests won’t even taste the difference! We loved the rich chocolatey taste, the crunch of the nuts and tang of the cranberries. They are the perfect partner for a hot, steaming glass of Mulled wine. This recipe requires next to no effort to make, and you’ll be in the kitchen for less than 5 minutes… – (p.s licking the bowl is a must!!)

Servings: 13 bigger rocky road squares (cut in half for snack sizes)

4. Livia’s Kitchen Raw Gingerbread Balls

These just scream Christmas for us here at the Health Mix! Full of aromatic ginger and covered in indulgent chocolate  – what more could you want at this time of year! We are amazed at how quick and simple these were to make, not only how yummy they were and their soft cookie dough texture was perfect! We decorated ours with cacao nibs before setting. So what are you waiting for, get baking and enjoy the taste of Christmas! (Fun serving tip: Put these on sticks to look like cake pops!)

Time: 15 minutes ( + 1 hour setting)

7 Ingredients: Ground ginger, ground almonds, oat flour, coconut oil, maple syrup, cacao powder, pinch of salt

5. Hippie Lane’s 5 Minute Cacao Mousse

If you’re really short on time this Christmas then this is 100% the healthy Christmas treat for you to make. In just 5 minutes you have a thick, creamy, chocolatey mousse, perfect for any Christmas party – yes, a five minute mousse that actually takes 5 minutes! (We know, we didn’t believe it either!) Simply pop the ingredients into a blender/ food processor and whizz for a few minutes – we recommend stopping once or twice and scraping the sides of the blender, no-one wants avocado lumps in their chocolate mousse! We skipped the mesquite powder to reduce the shopping list and it was still amazing, and you could easily use a different milk instead of coconut milk.

Time: 5 minutes (yes, really!)
